About
Our constitution
The rules the masjid runs by.
Sutton Coldfield Muslim Association is a registered charity, and this document is where its rules live. It comes in four parts, and this page says what each one settles.
Last amended 24 February 2022.
Opening clauses
What the charity is called, and where it is based.
Objectives, powers and application of income of the charity
What the masjid exists to do, what it may spend its money on, and who can join. Members’ meetings and votes sit here too.
The trustees of the charity
How someone becomes a trustee, how long they stay, and how the trustees reach a decision.
Working Committee and Office Bearers of the charity
Who sits on the committee, how long its officers serve, and how it takes decisions.
Other provisions
Records, accounts and disputes. This part also sets out how the document itself can change, and what happens if the charity ever closes.
Getting a copy
The masjid prints the constitution for its members and does not publish it online. A copy costs £5. We check your membership, then post it to you or hold it at the masjid for you to collect.
